On October 6^th 2008 inmate James Taylor was returning from court in Morgan County when he escaped from the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office transport vehicle. Inmate Taylor exited the vehicle onto Riverside Drive, near the jail’s driveway and ran into a wooded area. Officers from the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail, Nelsonville Police Department, Athens County Sheriff’s Office, Athens Police Department, Hocking College Police Department, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol conducted a search for the inmate in the area between the jail and Hocking College. After a short search, the inmate was located, apprehended, and returned to the jail. Inmate James Taylor was charged with escape and obstructing official business. He appeared in Athens Municipal Court on October 7^th.
